Suspected Blighted Ovum. Scan Done With Bladder Not Full. No Fetal Pole Or Heart Beat?

Hi doc, my doc suspected blighted ovum at 6 weeks as sac looked empty but he could finally see a speck of white dot in it. He forgot to mention a full bladder before the scan was done could he have made a mistake? I had my period on the 8th sept and today it should be 7 weeks +, the sac should have a fetal pole and heartbeat yes? Rather than a white dot.. Thank you

Hi,
You are right. A fetal pole and cardiac activity should be visualized. A trans-vaginal sonogram does not need a full bladder as a pelvic sonogram. I suggest that you get a trans-vaginal sonogram to clarify the issue. A serum beta-hCG serial titre could assist in assessing the progress of the pregnancy. Please consult your specialist for further suggestions. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
