Suspected Yeast Infection Under Belly Roll. Prescribed Oral Fluconazole. Is Treatment For Vaginal And Non Vaginal Infection Same?
I have been on bactrim for 6 or so months and now find myself with what I believe is a yeast infection, not in my vagina, but under my belly roll. My physician has given me oral fluconazole but I began to wonder, do you treat both vaginal and non-vaginal yeast infections alike? Should I tell my physician that this is not a vaginal infection? Will the prescribed med work?
Fluconazole is effective against yeast infection anywhere in the body. These anti fungals act on the cell wall of the fungi and kill them. Please complete the full course of anti fungal medications because inadequate treatment predisposes to recurrence of infection.
Thanks.
