Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 11 years old. When he sweats, his sweat smells like sweet vinegar. He is mostly around his neck area but his whole body smells like sweat vinegar after he plays soccer or other sports. He does not have underarm body odor . He showers every night, but by morning he has that smell again after he sweats throughout the night.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Most of the causes are related to lifestyle choices. If you use drugs, toxins or herbs such as alcohol and cigarette smoking, your body will smell.
Also, if you eat certain foods such as garlic and raw onions, you will have an unpleasant breath. You can also develop body odor by simply sweating excessively or practicing poor hygiene.
Other causes of body odor include tooth or oral conditions such as periodontal disease and gingivitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Saurabh Gupta
