Swelling In Right Thumb With Pain Upto Arms And Shoulders. X-ray Report Clear. History Of Knee Operation, Line Put Up For Anesthesia On Hand. Guide
Hi there, I had my left knee operated on ten weeks ago , two days after the operation my right thumb started swelling up and has been like this ever since, this was the had that the line was put in for the anesthetic both the thumb and hand will swell up at least five days out of seven. Now the pain is gone up my arm and into my shoulder. I had it xrayed last week and it came back clear what would you think this might be? Thank you
Hello user, I think there is superficial skin infection on the region of your thumb and hands, which requires a week treatment with antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs.
You are also advised to do a routine blood profile to check the WBC levels which increases in superficial skin infections.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
