Swelling On Fallopian Tube And Cysts On Ovaries, Removed Both. Cause For Swelling On The Tube?
I was admitted to hospital last week for removal of ovaries due to a cyst on the (R) however when they performed the op they discovered that it wasn t a cyst on the ovary but a swelling in the fallopian tube - they still removed both ovaries and tubes as I am 54 yrs old and no longer require them. I had my tubes tied 21 yrs ago. What do you think the cause of the swelling was?
Hi,
The swelling on the fallopian tube could be due to infection or endometriosis; at your age you should also be evaluated for other pathology. The histopathological study of the operated specimen can be the only conclusive opinion, correlated with your clinical findings. It is difficult to say anything now without any further information. You may also need follow up reviews. Take nutritional supplements, maintain a healthy weight and proper exercise (after you recover). Contact your doctor for further advice. Wish you good health.
