Swelling With Fluid Filled In One Testicle, No Pain. What Could This Be?

Hi, my husband is 23 years old. Just over the last few days I have noticed that the right testicle is 3 times the size of his left. he said he is not in any pain. And when you feel it it just feels like fluid. Would you know what this is. We have an appointment to see a doctor but not for another 4 days. We are guessing hydrocele? If so we are trying to conceive our second child, dose this affect our chances?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
This may turn out to be what is called a 'primary tunica vaginalis hydrocele'. Though there are many other causes for this problem in general, primary hydrocele is one of the most common causes. If my guess is confirmed after you get examined by your doctor, an ultrasound scan may be advised to get details of the testicle within. If everything is normal except for the begin presence of fluid, then you will have no problem in getting conceived for the second child.
Thanks.

General & Family Physician Dr. James Jose's  Response
Welcome,
your husband has a hydrocele,it is caused by inflamation ,infection,or tumors of the
testis
it is collection of fluid in the sac covering the testis
it is a harmless condition if small and can be left alone,
in case it is large ,surgical drainage will cure it.
it usually does not cause infertility.
however get him examined by a surgeon
take care
