Swollen And Inflamed Tongue, Cracked, Difficulty In Eating, Painful. Having Dentures. Any Ideas?

I have an inflamed tongue and is painful to eat. I believe it is swollen and is also cracked. The sides of my tongue is also sore and cracked. I have had this problem for several years and it come and goes, each time it gets worse and is very painful. Eating spicy foods is out of the question. I have dentures and I cannot leave them in overnight, which makes it a little better in the morning, but still sore.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

From the details provided,i suspect the inflammation of lesion can be of aphthous ulcer type.

I would advice you to avoid spicy foods.

Floss your tongue daily with tongue scrapers.

Plenty of fruits as well as iron rich vegetables has to be included in your diet.

VITAMIN BECOSULES,IRON tablets has to be administered.

Discontinue tobacco or pan chewing if you practice any.

Take care.
