Swollen And Painful Tragus, Slight Throbbing And Tender Jaw, Itchy Ear, Headache. History Of Pierced Tragus. Any Idea?
Got my tragus pierced 12 years ago, never had any problems. Last weekend woke to find tragus swollen and painful, slight throbbing and aching and jaw/ joint tender when open wide. Also feels slightly itchy inside ear, underskin, ear is clean. Took earring out straight away last weekend, swelling not going down. Have had headaches daily, but do not no usually suffer from headaches.
Hello, Yes you need to visit an ENT specialist and get examined and take proper antibiotics and antinflammatory medications. It seems that you have developed infection in the cartilage at tragus due to some trauma or due to debries which get collected and caused infection. It is good that you have removed that ear ring If you do not take antibiotics it will cause damage to the cartilage. Get your ears also checked so that there is no focus of infection. Get well soon.
