Swollen Inguinal Lymph Nodes, Pain In Groin. Had Sex. Is It STD?

I am a 15 year old male with swollen ingunial lymph nodes. I recently got kicked with a soccer ball in my groin about a week ago, after experiencing continuous pain , I now realize my igunial lymph nodes are enlarged. I've been researching the possibilities and one says std, I've only ever had one sex partner and we were deffinetly each others first, can I rule out std? Could the cause of swollen igunial lymph nodes be due to the hit, I also lift weights daily, could it be a hernia?

Hi and welcome to HCM.
Hernia would be painful and expressed while coughing or weight lifting. It isnt usualy in you age.It can be lipoma or fibroma, but probably its just a swollen lymh node.
Secondly, it can be STD ,but in most cases swollen lymph nodes are resulting from any infection or it can be found in healthy people. If you dont have pain while urinating, peis changes or discharge it wouldnt be STD. I suggest to wait few weeks and se eis there progression in size. If yes you can do ultrasounds to check this out. Nothing serious can happen in short time. WIsh you good health.

Dermatologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia's  Response
Hi,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to HCM.
After reading your query the best possibility of the swollen ingunial lymph nodes appears to be trauma only. Injuries and trauma to the legs, groin area or the foot can affect the lymph nodes at inguinal area and among these injuries too, injury to the genital/groin area is the most common cause of inguinal nodes swelling. As the injury starts to heal, you will find a significant decrease in the swelling of the lymph nodes as well. However, its almost one week since the injury and the swelling is not subsiding so it is better to see a doctor.
Now regarding STD's --as you are quite sure that both of you were the first for each other so this possibility is unlikely. Along with it their are certain local and systemic symptoms present in STD's which are not mentioned so we assume to be negative for STD's as a whole.
Lastly to differentiate your inguinal swelling from hernia, a simple guide is that in hernia the swelling keeps on increasing and decreasing with different period of time in day which is not possible in inguinal nodes swelling, so can make out accordingly.
Lastly the point of advice is to stop weight lifting for a short time and to see doctor who can guide you the best as it is almost one week of your swelling.
Hope this information will help you.
with best wishes for your health,
