Swollen Knee, Bruise After Falling Down. Normal X Ray. Taking Anti Inflammatory. Treatment?
I fell on my knee 5 days ago. I had x-rays and was told nothing is broken and that I have bursitis. My knee has been extremely swollen and numb the entire time and the bruising surrounds my knee, travelling down my shin and into my ankle. I have been taking anti-inflammatories, icing and elevating it with really no improvement. It is starting to hurt now more just below the knee cap and there is an icy hot burning sensation running down the front of my leg. What else can I do to treat this and should I seek a second opinion?
Hi, From history it seems that you might be having some ligament and cartilage damage with soft tissue injury. Give complete rest to the part. Continue with ice pack 2-3 times a day. Do patellar exercise. Avoid bending knee joint more, avoid squatting position. Continue anti-inflammatory medicines. Ok and take care.
