Swollen Knuckles, Stiff In Movement. Had Punched Wall 2 Years Back. Suggestions?
Hello I am 16 years of age with swollen knuckles, it first occurred about 2 years ago when I punched a wall for some stupid reason. It's been swollen since creating a mountain like swelling, I went to the doctors and they claimed there was no fracture and that the swelling would eventually fade, but 2 years on its still swollen.. I have no pain and all fingers are fine, it's just abit stiff to move my fingers. It's mainly index finger/knuckle and when knuckle is knocked or in cold condition it turns purple/blue ish and is even more stiff to move finger, any help would be great.
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi, Thanks for posting your query Swollen knuckle could be due thickened synovium or bursal tissue. As this swelling persists from 2 years, it might need biopsy or MRI to reach the diagnosis. I suggest you to get it evaluated by orthopaedic for accurate diagnosis and management. Hope this helps you.
