Swollen Lymph Node That Has Turned Black And Blue, Tiredness. Had Taken Antibiotics. Further Approach?
My daughter was taken to ER the Friday before Christmas with a very swollen lymph node. She had no other systems. She was given antibiotic , it went down in a few days, but not away. When returned home she was taken to pediatrician , they took her off antibiotic to see what would happen. The lymph node started to turn red and she had a upper respiratory virus. As of this past Monday, the upper respiratory virus cleared up, but the lymph node turned black & blue. She is very tired and tells us she doesn t feel well, but no other symptoms. Lymph node is now black. What else should we do?
Hi and welcome to Healthcare magic. Thank you for your query.
YOu need to do further evaluation of lymoh node because it may indicate something more serious. YOu should do ultrasounds and node biopsy to see is it infection, inflamamtion or some hematological disease. AFter this, the right treatment can be done. Wish you good health. Regards.
