Swollen Painful Nose After An Injury. Which Pain Medication Can I Take?
I got elbowed square in the nose yesterday playing basketball. I put ice on it last night and when I got up this morning. It is still pretty tender and it is still slightly swollen but not vry much. Is there anything that I can take that will relieve the pain. It hurts the most when I touch the bridge of m nose or if I scrunch it up.
Hello,
Injury to the nose can be quite painful because of the abundance of nerves which supply the region. If there is no loss in height of the nose or deviation of the nose, there is no need for concern as the pain would subside by itself with time.
The best form of therapy is analgesics taken on a regular basis till the pain is negligible. Analgesics decrease inflammation and pain associated with the injury and would also decrease swelling. Continue with the ice application as it additionally helps in making the area numb for a short duration and also helps in decreasing swelling. Above all, avoid all forms of injury to the area.
