Swollen Tongue. History Of Having Tongue Operation Removing Cyst Imbedded In Frontal Area. Any Possible Nerve Damage?

I just had a tongue operation removing a cyst imbedded in the frontal area of my tongue. This is the next day after surgery. Only the cyst was removed and my tongue is quite swollen. How soon will my tongue return to normal size and how much nerve damage can I expect ( including length of time to regain feeling in the front of the tongue)?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello

Welcome in H.C.M. for your query regarding post operative swelling on tongue.

Yesterday you had been operated for a cyst embedded in tongue, and same had been removed saving musculature of tongue. No doubt today you are having much swollen tongue but this will turn to it's normal size in about 6 to 8 days. You have asked about nerve injury that can't be decided at present but here I would like to tell you that surgery by expert hands usually we don't expect any nerve injury.

Don't worry, follow the instructions of your surgeon I hope you will recover soon without any complications.

Regards.

Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Suman Kumar's  Response
normally some time is required to heal the surgical wound
in tongue it may take 3 -4 week as we cant put tongue on rest and there is contact of food
you can take antibiotics anti inflamatory and local ointments for 3-4 wk
if there is no numbness it means no nerve damage
