Symptoms Of GERD In Throat, Had Hiatus Hernia Repair, Heartburn, Barrats Esophagus. When Will It Go ?

Hi I'm 53 female. I've just had a hiatus hernia repair and partial nissen fundoplication operation two weeks ago. I've suffered heartburn for 30 yrs and an endoscopy biopsy revealed barratts eosophogus as well. one of my many symptoms of GERD is globus in my throat and my question is, when will this go now I've had my operation? It's still annoying me and now somehow feels bigger and nearer to the back of my mouth entrance to the throat. Thanks, Dee

Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

Since you already have been operated for GERD and hiatus hernia, feeling of globus will also improve after few days. If it is not improved get a endoscopic examination

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
