Taken Primolut For Delayed Menstruation. Also Taking Elthroxin For Hypothyroidism. Okay To Take It?

My daughter, 19 yrs missed got delayed her menstruation FOR 2 months and prescribed with primolut. Her last dt of period is 27.8.13. Whether it is OK... In my experience, I hv taken primolut for delaying the period not for delayed period. pls clarify. She is taking 150 mg elthroxin Thryroid tab. Hyphothrodism since her 11 years and she is approx.80kg...

I am so sorry to hear about this menstrual irregularity that your daughter has. Delayed menses in a young lady beside pregnancy is mostly caused by hormonal imbalances(dysfunctional). Hypothyroidism can also cause this i will suggest that we review her treatment for low thyroid and make sure that it is okay before settling with a probable hormonal cause.

Besides being used to delay menses, primolut is also used to treat dysfunctional uterine bleeds. Drugs often can be used for different purpose and this doesn't imply a mistake in its prescription.
