Taken One Dose Of Rabies Vaccination After Dog Bite. What To Do?

I have a dog bite 15 years and some months back. The dog died next day.

I was immediatly taken to hospital and the doctor gave me two injection within half an hour one for titanus and other from Day 0 dose of Rebies treatment therapy.

But after than in I was never given the rest doses.

What should I do now .

Is there chances of virus multiplication after 15+ years.

What to do if a dog bite me now?

Is there any laboratory test for this??
A doctor adviced me to go to post exposure therapy again.Should I go
And what is longest incubation period recorded for this.
Please help me.

Hi and thanks for using this panel for your health worries.

There is absolutely no risk of rabies 15years after a dog bite.

I will advice you to go in for a full course of rabies vaccine now. You would need 3doses on Day 1, 7 and 21 or 28. This will provide an even longer lasting immunity to you.
Also, you may want to get vaccinated for tetanus as the exposure to both if often simultaneous. This will also protected you whenever you get a wound any where on your body.

If a dog bites you now, then you will need to go for post exposure prophylaxis. but please, do not wait for that. Get vaccinated against rabies now and more so if you find yourself in a community where rabies is endemic and dogs not well taken care of.

Thanks and hope this helps.
Feel free to come back.
Wish you a good health.
