Taking Citalopram Due To Fractured Ankle And Tooth Abscess. Can Tramadol Be Taken Also?

I am currently taking Citilopram (prescription) and am suffering pain as result of an accident (fractured ankle) compounded by drop in resistance which has resulted in tooth abcess (lower right) which isn t responding very well to antibiotic (euthrimycen). In constant pain can I take Tramadol while taking the Citilipram without adverse effects? I am female aged 63 years being treated for depression .

Hi friend,

Thanks for reposing your faith in me. I understand your concern about your problems.

Tooth abscess will take its own time to resolve. Your dentist is the best person to advise the treatment for the same.

Further, Tramadol potentiates the effect of Citalopram, which in turn, may cause drowsiness, confusion, dizziness etc..

It is therefore advisable that you take a MORE EFFECTIVE analgesic, such as Ibuprofen (Brufen) 800mg THRICE daily, AFTER meals.
