Taking Coumadin, MS Contin. Will Contin Change INR?
Hello, I am taking Coumadin. I just started taking 30 Mg MS Contin today, it will be two tabs twice a day. the Coumadin is administered by a "Coumadin Clinic". My Family doctor started me on the MS Contin for temporary pain relief until I can get in to see my back surgeon. I would like to know if the MS Contin will change my INR and whether I should contact the Coumadin Clinic.
Respected sir/ Madam Thanks for your query to us. 1. There is no known interaction between morphine and coumadin. However Since any two medications can interact adversely in a given patient, please be alert and inform your physician for anything abnormal you notice. 2. Ideally your coumadin clinic should be aware of all medicinal changes and significant dietary changes. Sincerely Sukhvinder singh
Hello, Although there is no interaction of MS CONTIN with COUMADIN,but it has been advised that you should keep on checking your INR every 4-5 days. Since you are going to take MS CONTIN for a short period only, the chances of any disturbance in your INR seems very less. Thanks
