Taking Mupirocin And Metrogel For Perioral Dermatitis And Impetigo. Need To Switch?
I was diag. with perioral dermitatis and impentigo. I am on an antibiotic , mupirocin (3x a day) and metrogel at night. Dr. told me in a week if the rash was better to switch to the metrocream. It is better, but why would I switch if everything was working? What is the difference bet. the two metrocream/metrogel? Thank you.
The strength of Tab Metrogyl is 400-500mg (depending on the Brand). The tablet is used in only acute stages when much higher dose is required to contain the infection. However, once the acute stage is over and the patient is in the process of recovery, we switch over to Metrogyl in ointment/gel/cream form, which- despite containing minute doses of Metrogyl- is equally effective. This ensures that the patient is not overdosed with the medicine.
I am highly optimistic that you will certainly benefit from the advice
May I assure you that I am always available for your assistance and will try my best to cure your condition to the best of my experience and knowledge.
