Taking Nistaten For Thrush. Have Swollen Gland In Front Of Ear. Had Nostril Wort Removed. Reason?
I have been taking Nistaten since May 25th for thrush due to Advair. I've been off the advair for about 20 days now. Tonight I have a swollen gland on one side only (sore if I push under jaw bone in front of ear. I also had a wort in my nostril removed today. The dermotologist used novicane. I called him tonight, and he said the glands in neck are not related. My question is do you think it is the thrush causing the swollen gland or something else? Thanks.
I am so sorry to hear about what you have been experiencing.
It is most likely a swollen lymph node. Lymph nodes often swell in respond to an infection in the associated area. It could still be due to this thrush but chances lower because thrush is rarely a systemic disease that lights up the lymph nodes. Also, because you recently had a nose surgery, this could be a more plausible explanation to this problem.
Well, the best step forward is to observe. Changes in intensity of pains and size should alert you on when to seek medical attention. For now, stay calm. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD
