Taking Prednisone For Poison Ivy. Have Itchy Rash. What Is Going On?
I am almost done with a 14 day course of prednisone for poison ivy. While the poison ivy rashes have almost completely cleared, I now have a fine, almost impossible to see (b/c my skin tone is pinkish and freckled anyway), still very itchy rash. It is in more locations than the poison ivy was, not he exact same spots and is causing me great discomfort. WHAT is going on????
Hi and thanks for this query. I am so sorry to hear about the poison Ivy and the itchy rash you now have to deal with. Prednisolone should be able to control any itches you have on the body. If it is still very itchy despite being on this drug, then i will suggest that you get it evaluated. Itchy rash on the body could be caused by several different things including fungal infection, scabies, urticaria etc. The best treatment can only be given after knowing what the exact cause is. Hope this helps. Please ask more questions if need be. Wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD
