Taking Antibiotics For Cold, Cough. Shoulder, Neck, Head, Ear Ache. Medication?

I started with a bad cold and cough about 6 weeks ago, since I have been on 2 types of antibiotics , and don t feel any better. My head neck and shoulders are aching, and the lower right side of my back. It s mainly when I wake up in the morning that I am full of congestion, and after 3-4 hours of pain the congestion slowly goes away. But the aches on my body/neck/shoulders still stays, and with really bad ear ache, I have been referred to a oral specialist but still awaiting my appointment as the doctor says I have TMD which won t be helping my ears, but in the mean time I m still in agony????

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding prolong cough and cold along with earache.

As you said that you are suffering from cold and cough for last 4 weeks and you feel severe congestion and headache in morning hours, and as time passes congestion gradually passes but the body pain still remains.

Your all above features are indicating that you are most likely suffering from sinusitis and as it had became chronic thus post nasal drip had settled and in this way infection spreads up to throat. From throat infection progressed even ahead to ear via eustachian tube. In this way your ear had started popping and became painful.

Now it will be better to consult any ENT doctor for thorough examination and treatment to avoid complication.

Till you are waiting for specialist you may take-

1- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

2- Steam inhalation.

3- Decongestant.

4- Tab Paracetamol.

I think above answers your query.

Regards.
