Taking Hydrocodone, Take1, Ultram For Breakthrough Pain. History Of Hepatitis After Childbirth. Alternatives?
I am taking hydrocodone 10/650. I take1 tablet 4 times a day (120 a month) with Ultram for breakthrough pain. I had hepatitis after the birth of my son in 1968 from unsanitary reasons at the hospital. I am worried about the Tylenol content in this drug as I have been taking it for quiet a few years. What other alternatives are there and what do I tell my doctor?
High doses of paracetamol can potentially affect the function of the liver but at the doses you described, you are within range. At 650 mg 4 times a day, you are using 2600mg a day, the maximum daily dose is 4 g (4000mg ).
This means you are within the safe range.
Your doctor can monitor your liver function via blood tests and in the event of any changes can consider changing the medication.
If your liver function blood results are normal then it is unlikely that the acetaminophen is affecting your liver.
I hope this helps
