Taking Nexium 40 Mg For Acid Reflux. Any Effect On Long Term Health If I Reduce Its Dosage?

I have been taking 40 milligram tablets of Nexium for years (for acid reflux) and it works great. It is the only pill that I need to take and I am in great health otherwise at age 73. However, I have been experimenting with 20 milligram tablet and they work reasonably well, though not as thorough in relief as the 40. Can I assume that taking a smaller dosage is preferable to my long term health, or does it matter if I take the 40 instead of the 20 milligram pill?

Dear Sir,

You are suffering from acid reflux problems, and you get relived with Nexium, so you can continue with it under guidance of your doctor.

What you can do more is just dietary and life style changes as follows:
1. Soft , Bland diet
2. Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee.
3. Take frequent small meals, instead of large meals.
4. No smoking
5. Go for walk after your meals. Don't go to bed directly
6. Eat more of green leafy vegetables and fruits.

Stay Healthy
