Tendon Tear In Ankle. Painful, Swelling. Cortizone Shot Taken. No Relief. Suggestions?
I had a mri for swelling below ankle bone. Evaluation peroneal tendon tear. Had cortizone shot March and did not seem towork. Also ave oa of ankle. Painful after arising in am to step on the floor for about l min. I wear a ace bandage at all
times to support ankle, also at bedtime because pain sometimes wakes me up. My PA suggests another shot in 3 months. I also have a problem wearing shoes and wear sneakers daily w/ankle wrapped. I am a golfer and ride stationary bike 30 min. eery other day. Question is what would be the next step in your opinion.
Hi, Thanks for writing in with complete details. If there was peroneal tendon tear on MRI which is not getting cured with corizone shot, I would advise you to take services of an orthopedic surgeon. Depending on your daily work schedule, you may opt for a surgical line of treatment (if advised by your surgeon). If the situation doesn't need a surgery, your doctor can always advise you to meet a physiotherapist for further guidance.
