Test Required For Old Age People?
Hi, My name is Carol. I will be 70 years this coming March. Every August my doctor has the caritoid (?) artery test and echo test for the heart. Is this enough? I take atorvastatin, low dose Bayer aspirin, two caltrate tablets, one multivitamin daily, and alendronate one tablet once a week. I exercise almost every day. I try to eat mainly potein and not alot of carbs. I weigh about 109 and am 5 Ft. tall

Good to know, you are interested in getting yourself tested. Carotid artery test is done to check the amount of blockage in the artery secondary to atherosclerosis. Echo to check for your cardiac evaluation.
Other tests you can undergo are Thyroid profile, lipid profile, complete blood counts. If you have not got your bone mineral density test done in the past 2-3 years, you can get one done.
Thyroid profile could be altered in the elderly and some might require treatment. A routine evaluation is necessary. Lipid profile to check, whether the dose is adequate or nutritional changes are necessary. If you have any anemia or any other blood related disorders, Complete blood count could be done to rule out any pathology.
Try to increase the amount of fibers in your diet. You are doing well. stay fit and healthy. Take care.
