Tested Positive For Leukocytes On A Urine Test. On Antibiotics. Have Vaginal Itching. Xylocane Helps. Still Not Feeling Better.

I tested positive for leukocytes on a urine test strip. I was given antibiotics (2 pills per day for 7 days) and have taken them for 4 days so far. I have severe vaginal itching and am using xylocane multiple times a day to manage the itchiness. I was told by the pharmacist I should feel significantly better after 4 or 5 days of antibiotics and that itchiness is uncommon with UTIs. I don't feel any better thus far. Is any of this true? Please help!!!

Hi, thank you for posting at Health Care Magic.

Your problem is related with side effects of antibiotic you are using. One of the side effects is fungal infection(Candida albicans). The local treatment you need is: econazole spray(pevaryl). You also need vaginal smear.

Take Care
