Thick Feces Causing Blockage After Multiple Ileostomy With Koch Pouch. Suggest Any Remedy

My wife has had an ileostomy for years with a Koch pouch. Several times in the past couple of years she's had a problem with thick feces causing a blockage. Twice she's been hospitalized for treatment and nearly had to have surgery. If she'd had the surgery, the Koch pouch would've been removed and she'd have had to have a bag again, which she doesn't want. What could be causing her thick fecal matter and what suggestion do you have to prevent the problem. So far prune juice seems to be the only thing to work. Fiber seems to thicken it further. HELP!

Welcome to Heaalthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

I would suggest a retention enema with N-Acetyl Cysteine which helps in dissolution of the blockage.
It has helped in many of my patients.
Suggest you to discuss with your Surgeon

I hope it helped
Do get back to me if you have any other query

Take Care
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy life
