Throat Irritation After Eating Chips, Bumps On Back Of Tongue, No Pain. Treatment?

Dear sir
Few days back while eating chips it got stuck in the throat and started irritating. Then I went to ENT Doctor he said only there is a scratch. But still I feel something in the throat and there are lots of big bumps at the back of my tongue which is irritating like foreign body in the throat. What is the treatment for this. This is not painful but irritating.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

I understand you had some chips, which probably traumatized the mucosa of your throat while swallowing. The fact that it is not stuck anywhere should put your mind at rest.
The bumps which you are visualizing at the back of your tongue are vallate papilla which houses taste buds. Good news is, that the papillae are present in all of us. Sometimes, due to infection or following injury, the papillae get enlarged in size. Do not worry, it will clear on its own in a couple of days. Use hexidine gargles for clearing the irritation in your throat. Hope this helps.

Take care,
