Throbbing Pain Below The Jawbone, Right Side Hot To Touch. Taking Light Medication. Recommendations?
hello doctor..I havent slept at all last night due to a throbbing pain just below the jawbone on the right..it feels like a vein, gets more painful as it pumps..another symptom is that the right side (where it aches) is very hot-to-touch, it started during the day and I tried taking panado then ibuprufen then codeine but none of them helped at all. this is the second episode but last time the pain was not as bad as this time,I thought it was going to kill me yesterday and last time it got relieved once I took panado 1g,on a scale of 1-10 I would say it was 10
This is very likely of Peritonitis(Inflammation of the salivary gland). This may be due to any viral infection or blockage in the duct due to any stone.(Recurrence +).
This condition is very painful. The treatment depends on the cause of the problem.
X ray of the region. Ultrasound of the salivary glands with help in arriving at a diagnosis.
