Tightness And Strain On Right Side Of Throat While Swallowing, Shoulder Pain. Normal Scans, Ultrasound. What Could Be This?

Hi, For the past one year I have been experiencing tightness and strain on right side of throat while swallowing with shoulder pain radiating towards underarms. My thyroid blood tests and ultrasound scans were normal. The ENT specialist whom i have consulted said it could be GERD. Please advise as this is really troubling and scaring me.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

The symptoms you mentioned may be due to GERD but it has to be confirmed. Let the following be the checklist:
1. Get an upper GI endoscopy to confirm your diagnosis and also to know the extent of the disease.
2. Also do a complete physical examination including cardiac work up
3. Avoid spicy, oily food and do not lie down immediately after meal
4. Have meals on time and do not skip them
5. Remember GERD is a disease of advanced lifestyle and stress full living, so try to bring about positive lifestyle modifications and also reduces stress
