Tightness In Neck And Shoulder Muscles, Severe Heartburn And Burning Stomach. Diagnosed GERD. No Help From Any Medicines. Help
I have been diagnosed with GERD in 2006 but none of the traditional medications worked. So lifestyle change made it a little better. Have had endoscopy twice but nothing significant showed up. My neck and shoulder muscles are very tight with severe heartburn and burning stomach. Have had a CT scan and nothing showed up- blood work spot on. What is going on? Can exercise induced tight muscles and stress cause heartburn?
Stress can worsen heartburn but it is not usually aggravated by activity or exercise.
In addition to the investigations you would have done, you may want to consider testing for H pylori. This is a bacteria that is associated with symptoms of reflux and also with ulcers in the stomach and early intestine.
Treatment of this bacteria , if present, would relieve the symptoms.
I hope this helps
