Hi,
excessive sleeping and chronic tiredness could have a broad range of causes. This could range form psychiatric (
depression),
chronic fatigue syndrome to organic causes. Tiredness and an associated back pain should be examined keenly. The back pain causes are very diverse from disc compression, inflammatory causes, mechanical compression, infectious causes and at times some tumours. The
chronic cough you present with needs a very keen attention too. Coughing for over three weeks with an associated fatigue always deserves an exclusion of
pulmonary tuberculosis. A chest X ray, sputum examinations and tuberculin skin tests depending on the skin. Spinal TB with history of this
chronic pain pain through raised erythrocyte sedimentation rates and specific images that could revealed by the MRI of the back are worth considering too.
I suggest you meet your internist for at least a chest X ray, sputum tests, tuberculin skin test, markers of inflammation measurement and an MRI of the back to be done. Other options depending on the clinician s appreciation shall be helpful in bringing out a definitive diagnosis.
Thanks and hope this helps,
