Toddler With Cough And Cold, Prescribed Asthalin Expectorant. Is This Medicine Used For Asthma?

My son is one and half years old. He is having cough and cold since he was 3 months old. Since then he is frequently gets cold and his cold turns into fever if it remains for one week. doctor has prescribed him asthalin expectorant for his cough. I have doubt that this medicine is for asthma . Can such a small child can get asthma problem ? Will it get worst in future?

Do not panic. Some medications are used for numerous purposes.
Asthalin contains salbutamol which is a bronchodilator and is used for post viral bronchoconstrictive cough.
It is also used in asthma but as a inhaler.
There is no co-relation of the use of this drug with development of asthma.
This use is temporary and symptomatic to give relief to your child.
Consult your doctor if the problem persists.
