Toddler With Vomiting And Fever, Had A Normal Bowel Movement. Is It A Stomach Infection?
Hi, I have a 16-month-old little girl. Tuesday morning my daughter woke up vomiting . She only did that twice. She then ran a fever ranging from 100-102.5 for the two following days. As of yesterday afternoon, she appeared to be back to her normal self. This morning, however, she does not want to eat and is drinking very little. She has also been very constipated. I gave her a suppository this morning and she had a decent bowel movement , but it was a little pale in color. I thought she just had a stomach virus, but I m getting very concerned..

Per your description it is obvious that your daughter has developed an infection but the main loci of the infection can not be told simply on her presentation since they are unspecific. But the most probable loci of infection is her stomach and could be due to one of a numerous number of infections ranging from viruses, bacteria, parasites, protozoa, fungi, salmonellosis etc. She will therefore require to consult with a pediatrician so she might probably examine her, do a stool analysis, do blood tests ( to find out if any signs of infection) and maybe provide her with some treatment if any particular causes found order than viral infection.

You seem to be doing well to help her. She is having viral gastritis a common & self-limiting illness at this age. Give her frequent small drinks .
See your doctor right away if she:
1/-Has a fever over 102 f (38.9 c)
2/-Seems lethargic or very irritable
3/-Appears to be in lot of discomfort or pain
4/-Has blood in stool or vomitus.
5/-Seems dehydrated -has not peed for over 6 hrs.
Wishing a speedy recovery.
See your doctor right away if she:
1/-Has a fever over 102 f (38.9 c)
2/-Seems lethargic or very irritable
3/-Appears to be in lot of discomfort or pain
4/-Has blood in stool or vomitus.
5/-Seems dehydrated -has not peed for over 6 hrs.
