Took Drops For Glaucoma. Diagnosed With Conjunctivitis. Having Swollen Eyes And Pain. Done Swab Test
my sister has glaucoma and was given new drops which caused severe red eye reaction. they were changed but they asy she now has conjuctivitis.She has been told to come off all drops until her apt on tuesday. She has eyes now which are so swollen she cannot see and saca of jelly hanging out. The pain is intolerable and she keeps being sent away from the eye clinic because her swab results are not back. She hasn't been seen for 3 days by them she was seen by a/e nurse and her GP. She is desperate
Hi and thanks for the query, Opthalmologic follow up deserves serious compliance to treatment. The eyes are very delicate and its very inappropriate for her to change drugs on her own. The changes observed at the level of the eyes could be an infection, for sure, but an aggravation of the glaucoma must be excluded first. Measurement of the intraocular pressure at times point in time in demanding.Left untreated, this could easily progress to irreversible complications.
