Took Unwanted 72 After Unprotected Intercourse. History Of Irregular Periods. No Bleeding. Any Advice?
Hello Doctor
My girlfriend took unwanted 72 within 13 hours of the intercourse. It happened due to condom rupture that she had to take the pill. As i remember i did not ejaculate inside her, but still for the safety reasons she took one tablet of unwanted 72 within 13 hours. She has the problem of irregular periods. Its been 5 days but there is no withdrawal bleeding. Tell me if we should go for a pregnancy test. Is it compulsory to have withdrawal bleeding after taking ECP. Please suggest.
There is usually no withdrawal bleed after taking ECP. What it does is, it rather upsets the hormonal patterns and make implantation impossible. Beside, give yourself at least 2weeks from the date of incidence before going in for any pregnancy test. Any test earlier than this will not yield any meaningful results.
Bottom line: let her wait for her next expected menses and if they don't show up, then you may want to consider further investigations.
Hope it helps. Wish you and your partner good health.
