Tooth Fractured, Going For Extraction. Advice?

Certainly you could answer my question, as I am going in for a tooth extraction...molar I believe far back left. Tooth fractured. Justt did not expect you to pop up here in a chat as I was researching oou tonline, hence I would love to talk to you because I have a lot of anxiety having this fractured 1/2 filling still inside tooth removed. BUT...I would have to pay you for you to tell me what to expect and what type of anesthsia I should go with! So, that being this situation...I cannot pay you, because my $$$$ are going to the dentist, whom I know nothing about, since I'm new in Ohio and am concerned. I'm sure you cannot anser me w/o a ccard payment. So, thanks for your interest and have a wonderful evening! Jan..the frightened 56 yr. young patient ;).

hello
since your tooth is fractured and as per your saying you have had some filling done which has come out
so what i would suggest is that you go to your nearby dentist and get the tooth extracted if it can not be restored
in the mean while you can do a lot of luke warm saline rinses so that no food particles engulf in the cavitated area which may lead to further infection and subsequently pain
hope this helps

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Fractured tooth has to be extracted by simple extraction procedure under local anaesthesia.

Take amoxycillin -500mg ,thrice daily prior to tooth extraction to prevent underlying infection.

Nothing to be worried about,as it is a simple extraction procedure.

Meanwhile,maintain oral hygiene well.

Take care.

please don't be anxious and frightened about anything... just visit your dentist... he will select anesthetic solution depending upon your medical condition...
you wont experience any kind of pain after the tooth has been anesthetized... don't be worried about any kind of fractured filling...
so just go for it without fear...

Dentist Dr. Qazi Ammara's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I would suggest you to visit to the Dentist and get an x-ray done of the tooth.
If possible the tooth can be saved with the root canal treatment.
If the tooth is badly destructed can be extracted and can be replaced with a prosthetic crown or an implant.
Tooth extraction will be done under local anesthesia, so will not have any pain so no need to worry at all.
You can consult your Dentist and mention if you are having BP, thyroid problems or any other problems, depending upon which type of anesthetia will be decided.

Hope this answered the query,

Regards...

Dentist Dr. Souranjita Chattopadhyaya's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query,

There may be another option for your fractured tooth..that is Root canal treatment..but that will be decided on the basis of your tooth condition...

Proper x-ray is required for that...

If its beyond root canal treatment then extraction is required...

Don't be panic...

Anesthetic will be decided depending on your medical condition....

Get your treatment done by the Dentist...

Maintain oral hygiene properly...

Wish you good health....

HI
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CONCERN
PLEASE DO NOT BE ANXIOUS OR FRIGHTENED.
YOUR FRACTURED TOOTH WILL BE EXTRACTED UNDER LOCAL ANESTHESIA , SO YOU WILL NOT BE HAVING ANY PAIN.
I WOULD ADVICE YOU TO GET X RAY DONE , IF TOOTH CAN BE RESTORED .
TAKE ANTIBIOTICS UNDER YOUR DENTIST PRESCRIPTION PRIOR TO EXTRACTION FOR AVOIDING INFECTION.
PLEASE LET YOUR DENTIST KNOW ABOUT YOUR ANY OF THE SYSTEMIC PROBLEMS.
SUGAR LEVEL AND BP HAS TO BE GET CHECK BEFORE PERFORMING EXTRACTION AT THIS AGE.
REGARDS
