Total Knee Replacement Done And Still Has Discharge In Wound. What Is The Reason For The HB Going Down To Fast And Is It Normal To Perform Debridement Twice In Two Days?

My Mum had total knee replacement done on one knee. After 3 weeks she still had discharge from her wound and she went back to have it checked out. They had to perform debridement twice in a span of 2 days. Her Haemoglobin went down to 8. Her HB level was normal before coming for the debridement. The plan of action is to do transfusion. Is this normal? What could be the cause of the HB going down so fast. Is it the antibiotics or the pain medication? What are the things to watch out for?
