Treatment With Levulan And Gentle Waves For Cystic Acne Causing Break Outs On Face. Will Any Diet Changes Help?
Hi, I am currently having PDT by my dermatologist and have had two treatments with the Levulan and Gentle Waves but have seen no changes at all. I got cystic acne out of the blue after never having acne problems in my life and I am now 43 yrs old. I am at my witz end. I ve been on all topicals and I was on Bactrim which worked well for me when I was only getting them a few times a yr, one at a time. I just started Nicomide a month ago which doesn t seem to be doing anything either. Does the Gentle Waves with levulan make your face break out more because mine has. My Derm doesn t tell me anything and I m getting really frustrated and depressed. What can I do? Does diet help? Thank you for any tidbits you can give me, I ll do anything.
Hello and welcome to HCM, You have nodulocystic acne and photodynamic therapy works well for it. But every individual has different things working so if you are not satisfied with PDT consult your dermatologist for oral isotretinoin or a course of oral antibiotics and hormonal therapy. There hasnt been proven dietary cause of acne but studies have shown dairy products have an association. Take oral zinc supplements and eat healthy. Hope I helped
