Trouble Breathing, Have Scoliosis In Spine, Gastritis, Disoriented. Cocaine And Alcohol Addiction. What Is Happening?

I have battled cocaine and alcohol addiction for about 10 years. Im going on 1 month clean but I experience palpitations when I eat certain foods and sometimes I get them randomly once a day or week. When I sleep I sometimes get this weird numbing feeling over my body during a bad dream and awake to find myself out of breath , sweating , and disoriented/dizzy . I have scoliosis in my upper spine and was told by doctor i might have trouble breathing later in life but im only 29. Plus i have gastritis. My vices would include smoking tobacco, cocaine, and alcohol when i was at my worst . Am i experiencing withdrawals ? I dont have the money to enter a rehabilitation facility for addiction but am trying spiritual health for now and staying away from bad influences. I went to the hospital a month ago for anxiety and feeling sick from over indulgence and they ran an EKG and said my heart was fine. What is happening to me? Your opinion is much appreciated.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to HCM

You were taking cocaine and alcohol for last 10 years and now you are off these drugs for one month. You are having palpitations while eating certain foods. Numbness, sleep problems or insomnia, anxiety attacks are also there. You have scoliosis as well as have gastritis. I would like to tell you that the symptoms you are having are nothing but long term withdrawal effects of cocaine only. This is also called protracted withdrawal. There is no need to admit yourself to a rehab facility. Consult a Psychiatrist for expert management. Medicines like Clonidine help to decrease anxiety associated with this withdrawal. Anticraving medicines like Naltrexone also help in reducing craving.

Thanks
