Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My niece who doesn't lives with me is having a chest infection for the last few days. She is currently in ICU in a hospital in Gurgaon, India. To what I have been told, she has breathing problems due to this and her breathing was at 150 at some point. She has high fever as well. Its getting to normal. Doctor's performed tests for Swine Flu which came out negative. She is being given Oxygen and Glucose . I cannot be of much assistance as I am not physically but would like to seek a second opinion. Please let me know if any questions or what it could be. Thanks
hi.., the patient is been admitted in the ICU, on the oxygen therapy states that, that the saturation of the oxygen level in blood is low... the RR is 150, is not believable , since the normal rate is 18 to 20.. maximum is Upto 40 or more... the condition of the patient must be examined to say about the prognosis..
Hope I have answered your question..
Hi,Saggara,
Thanks for query.
Your niece might have bronchopneumonia.
As she is in ICU specialist might have done their best.
Bye antibiotic iv infusions and other supportive line of treatment she will come out of critical problem.
Keep patience and be strong.
Now in latest antibiotic era cure is possible.
Ok and bye.
