Typhoid Oral Vaccine Left In The Room Temperature. Will It Be Effective?

Hi...I got the typhoid oral vaccine yesterday for my son and left it in my purse for a few hours upon returning home before remembering it was supposed to go right in the frig. It was not in any extreme cold or heat during that time, just room temp. Will it still be good? The travel clinic said it needed to go right in the refrigerator at home.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
As the oral typhoid vaccine is kept outside the fridge for a few hours, its efficacy will go.
Advised temperature maintenance is important for vaccines.
So discard the vaccine and inform to your Pediatrician go for a new well maintained dose.
And I advise you to administration of vaccine to be carried out in the clinic by a healthcare professional as to monitor for any adverse effects and their management appropriately.
Hope I have answered your query.

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Vaccines need to be preserved at an optimal temperature.
Since you have not kept vaccine in refrigerator,it has lost its efficacy and should not be given.
Consult your pediatrician and give the vaccine preferably in clinic or in presence of health care worker.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
