Ulcer On The Ball Of Foot That Started As Callus, Cleaning An Applying Mesalt With MEpilex. Is This Right ?

My friend has an ulcer on the ball of his foot that started as a callus. He is being treated at a wound center but I care for it between appointments. I clean it with mild soapy water then dry and insert Mesalt in the wound the cover it with Mepilex. The wound seems to be healing but now the callus coming off around the ulcer and is raw. is there anything else I should be doing?

Hi, any wound any where in the body should be treated with antibiotics preferably anaerobic, and aerobic.
I to my patients with such wound prescribe a combination of ofloxacin and ornidazole, protiolytics, and anti inflamatories besides local application of the antibiotic to the wound. thank you.
