Ultrasound Shows Lesion On Ovary After Having Prolonged Period. Could This Be Ovarian Cancer?
I had a period for 4 weeks went to the doctor at 3 weeks she sent me for ultrasound...i have a lesion measuring 5.5x5.4x3.2 cm on left ovary I m waiting for appt to OBGYN and have to repeat ultrasound in six weeks no free fluid is seen in the cul-de-sac.... this started Oct 7 and it s been worrying me could this be ovarian cancer?
Thank you for writing to us. The cyst you mentioned is about 5 cms. Sometimes a woman can develop functional cysts and they would disappear in 6 to 8 weeks time.
If there were any suspicious areas then the physician would have asked for extended tests urgently.
Please be patient and repeat the scan 1st week of December and you can decide after that
Hope to have answered your query
