Hi there,
Thanks for your query.
Firstly, I am not aware about the severity of heart problems. Surgical repair of
umbilical hernia does not take a long time. Probably, your heart condition is too advance for the anesthetist to take risk.
Under the circumstances, a tight sterile dressing, a course of antibiotics to take care of infection, if any, and prevention of cough/
constipation (which can tear the gap more) would suffice.
Since, you are likely to have re-bleeds or other serious complications (though uncommon), surgical repair must be carried out at the earliest, once your heart status is fully stabilized on medication and, the anesthetist is willing to take the risk, with your consent.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he agree with me.
