Unable To Cure Hives. Prescribed Hydroxyzine, Zyrtec, Zantac. Experiencing Migraines. Adenoids Not Removed, Can Cause Migraines?

I have had hives for the past 4 months and haven't found anything to get rid of them completely. I went to an allergist and they found nothing, so I left being told I had no allergies but was given a prescription of hydroxyzine and told to take zyrtec and zantac. I am now experiencing migraines (sudden onset). I am curious, I was supposed to have my adenoids out as a child and never did, could this be the cause of the migraines?

Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
Removing adenoids is not the cause for getting migraine.
There is a family predisposition in migraines. If some family member have the history of migraine, there is a chance of getting it in subsequent generations.
For hives, medication with hydroxyzine and zantac is sufficient.
But maintain a diary of daily food and activities to find out any allergic factor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Psychiatrist Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi's  Response
Hello
Welcome to HCM

You have complaints of migraine headache. You had hives and there was nothing found in terms of allergy. You have been prescribed hydrxyzine, zyrtec and zantec.
See migraine can occur without any definitive cause. Sudden throbbing headache can occur in a patient with history of adenoids. Adenoids may cause chronic sinusitis and this may present with sudden onset headache. If you fail to get benefit from these medicines I would advise you to consult a Psychiatrist for expert management of headache. Medicines like Cinnarizine, amitryptilline etc are very useful in headache. Apart from that medicines like Propranolol help in prophylaxis against headache.

Thanks
