Under Follicular Monitoring. On Benforce-M Tablet And Ubiphene. Had Follicle. Advise
Hello Doctor, I am from Chennai (age-30 yrs). I am under follicular monitoring. Initially for the first 2nd phase of follicular monitoring scan,there were no follicles found (MSF). My doctor prescribed me Folvite folic acid tablets 5 mg, Benforce-M tablet and Ubiphene 100 from periods D2-D6. I took these tablets and from the 3rd phase of follicular monitoring scan, i had a follicle, which grew well and also ruptured. My doctor gave us the dates for intercourse. We had intercourse, but i did not get pregnant. My doctor gave me OOsure in addition to the above tablets during the 4th phase.During the scan, i had a follicle, which grew till size 1.6 mm and suddenly shrunk to 1.1mm. In the 5th phase of follicular monitoring scan, there were no follicles until the 16th day. My doctor has advised me to stop benforce-M and take the other tablets as usual and come for follicular monitoring scan on the 10th day of my periods in October 2012. I am very much confused.Please advise what my problem actually is and how can i get pregnant. Thank you so much

On the basis of your history and prescription, I conclude that you are suffering from a condition known as Polycystic ovarian disease/ syndrome (PCOD/PCOS).
In a normal ovarian cycle a number of follicles grow but only one matures. This mature follicle ruptures and releases the ovum into the fallopian tube for fertilization.
In PCOD/PCOS, the number of follicles are normal but none of them matures completely.
A number of medicines are available which aid in maturation.
Ubiphene is a preparation which stimulates ovulation so in one cycle, more than one ova are released. this improves the chance of fertilization.
benceforce M is Metformin which enhances the action of insulin.
Follicular tracking will have to be done regularly to see for the increase in the size of the ovarian follicles.
My advice to you is to be patient. Your doctor is treating you in right way.
Adherence to your prescription and patience is what that is required.
