Undergoing Treatment For Prostate Cancer. PET Scan Reveals Mild Linear Fibrosis At Left Base. Implication?
Good evening. My name is Grady Fountain and I recently had a PET scan and am being treated for localized prostate cancer with radiation that will begin this week. My initial PET scan reported that there was some "mild linear fibrosis at the left base". I assume this is on my left lung? I am a non-smoker. I exercise regularly and have no trouble breathing. I have worked at a shipyard for 30 years. Is this cause for concern? Thank you. My email address is YYYY@YYYY .
Linear fibrosis in any part of the lung signifies a residual change from past infection or inflammation. Fibrosis are inactive but permanent. This does not signify a serious lung problem. So do not bother.
Thank you,
Dr. Eric
